This piece is defined by an elegant economy of form and function. As a clock, its features are subtle, allowing the natural beauty of the wood to speak for itself. Figure, grain, and depth take center stage, while hidden storage and a sculptural presence make it as functional as it is distinctive. The quilted maple face is the clock's fingerprint, singular and unique to this one piece with a mesmerizing chatoyance.
This clock's body is cherry with a signature crown of curly maple around the rim. The hand-carved Roman numerals in the face are filled with a blue opalescent epoxy resin as are the naturally occurring voids in the wood. The interior shelves are made of hard maple while the back and clock face are quilted maple. The shelf depth is 4 1/4 inches. The front of the clock face is finished with Stone Coat countertop epoxy resin, a high-gloss, highly durable finish. The back of the clock face and clock body are finished with multiple coats of Osmo finishing oil which has a warm, low-luster sheen.

About My Clocks
For over 4 years I looked for an off-the-shelf hardware solution that would allow a 30-inch circular wooden clock face attached to a circular wooden body to open like a door. It had to be invisible when closed, support the weight of a 15-lb clock face without deforming over time, as easy to adjust as high-end kitchen cabinet hardware and compact enough to allow ample space for shelves. I never found what I was looking for, so I designed my own. My proprietary opening mechanism allows the inset circular face of my statement wall clocks to open smoothly, revealing hidden shelves within the body of the clock. When closed, the storage remains discreet, allowing the piece to read as a clean, oversized wall clock.
All of my oversized wall clocks are crafted from solid hardwoods such as cherry, walnut, and maple. The clock faces are made from quilted maple, chosen for its mesmerizing natural figure. Hand-carved Roman numerals, when present, are filled with epoxy resin tinted with vividly colored, opalescent mica powders. Natural checks and voids in the wood are accentuated with matching resin.
The faces of my oversized clocks are finished with Stone Coat countertop epoxy for a smooth, mirror-like surface with exceptional durability. The clock bodies are sealed with multiple coats of Osmo finishing oil to enhance the grain and provide a rich, natural sheen.
My oversized wall clocks are meant to live in the space between categories. They keep time, but they are also functional furniture, offering hidden storage within an unexpected form. At the same time, each clock is conceived as wall art, shaped by figure, color, texture, and the changing play of light across the wood and resin. The result is an object that blurs the line between clock, cabinet, and artwork, giving a room something practical, beautiful, and deeply personal.
